WHAT Eight family members were poisoned by generator exhaust gases, resulting in four fatalities.
WHEN – WHERE – WHO
  • At around 10:45 a.m. on October 28, 2025, in Dien Ban Tay Commune, Da Nang City.
  • Victims including a parent and 4 their children and 1 teenage.
WHY – HOW
  • On the night of October 27, a power outage occurred.
  • The family used a gasoline generator indoors while sleeping with the air conditioner running and doors closed.
  • Toxic exhaust gases — mainly carbon monoxide (CO) — accumulated, leading to oxygen depletion and poisoning.
CONSIQUENCE
  • 4 people died; the remaining victims were rescued and are under intensive treatment at local hospitals.
LESSION LEARNT
  • Never use generators indoors or in enclosed spaces.
  • Ensure proper ventilation when operating fuel-powered equipment.
  • Install CO detectors to warn of toxic gas buildup.
