WHY – HOW

A 16-year-old girl from Phu Tho province is now paralyzed from the waist down after inhaling 15 nitrous oxide-filled balloons over course of 3 days

The patient was diagnosed with: Subacute peripheral nerve damage due to laughing gas abuse. Treatment was prescribed with neurotransmitter-enhancing drugs and high doses of vitamin B12. After 10 days of treatment, the patient’s health stabilized, and she was discharged from the hospital

DAMAGE She is damaged in health, which may leave sequelae later.
LESION LEARNT Doctors warn that the use of laughing gas can cause temporary excitement and happiness, but it has negative effects on the user’s health. Stimulants have the risk of causing abuse or dependence, leading to serious neurological, cardiovascular, brain inhibition problems, and even death.
